Slingshot

Privacy Policy

dgNetrix Communications Inc., operating as Slingshot Telecom  ·  Version 1.0  ·  Effective 27 August 2026

We are a phone company, so we necessarily handle sensitive things: who called you, when, what they said in a voicemail, and sometimes a recording of the call itself. This policy says what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and who else touches it.

The commitment underneath it: the content of your communications is yours. We do not sell it, we do not advertise against it, and we do not use it to train anything.

1. Who we are

dgNetrix Communications Inc., operating as Slingshot Telecom, is the organisation responsible for the personal information described here. We are a Canadian company and subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), along with the telecommunications privacy rules that apply to carriers in Canada and the United States.

Contact for privacy matters: privacy@slingshot.tel.

2. What we collect

What you give us

What the service generates

3. Why we hold it

We use this information to provide the service you asked for: connecting your calls, delivering your voicemail, billing you accurately, supporting you when something breaks, and protecting the network from fraud and abuse. We also use it to meet legal and regulatory obligations that apply to carriers, including routing emergency calls and responding to lawful requests.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the content of your communications for advertising or to train anything.

4. Access to your content

Access to the content of your communications is restricted to the people who need it to do their job, and only for as long as they need it.

In practice, support works from metadata — that a voicemail exists, when a call happened, how long it lasted, whether a device registered. That is enough to diagnose almost every problem, and it is where we start. We access the content of a voicemail, recording or message only where it is necessary to resolve something you have raised with us, or where we are legally required to.

We will disclose information where we are legally required to — a court order, a lawful request from an authority with jurisdiction, or an emergency where someone's life or safety is at risk. Where we are permitted to tell you about such a request, we will.

5. How long we keep it

When you close your account we delete or anonymise what we are not required to keep.

6. Who else is involved

Running a phone service means other companies are necessarily in the path. We use each of these only to deliver the service, under contract, and none of them may use your information for their own purposes.

We will tell you which providers we use, and where they operate, if you ask at privacy@slingshot.tel.

7. Where data is stored

Your information is stored and processed in Canada and the United States. Information held in the United States is subject to United States law, including lawful access by its authorities, in the same way information held in Canada is subject to Canadian law. By using Slingshot you consent to this transfer and storage.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete what we are not required to keep, or provide it in a portable form. Write to privacy@slingshot.tel and we will respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires.

If you are an employee on an account someone else owns, some of these requests are directed to the account owner rather than to us, because they control the account. We will tell you if that is the case.

9. Security

We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls that limit staff to what their role requires, logging of privileged access, and monitoring for unusual traffic that may indicate a compromised account.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.

10. People who call you

When someone calls your Slingshot line, we process their number, the time and duration of the call, and any voicemail they leave — including a transcript of it. We do this to deliver the service to you, our customer.

If you record calls, you are responsible for telling callers and obtaining whatever consent the law requires where you and they are. See section 9 of the Terms of Service.

11. The website

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: to make the site work, and to understand how it is used.

We use Google Analytics to see how visitors find and move through the site — pages viewed, time on page, approximate location derived from IP address, and the device and browser used. Google processes this on our behalf and may store it outside Canada. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by using your browser's own controls.

When you arrive from an advertisement or a campaign link, we record the campaign parameters in the address so we can tell which campaigns bring people to us. That information is attached to the account if you go on to sign up.

We do not use website analytics to build advertising profiles, and we do not combine it with the content of your calls, voicemail or messages.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. Every version carries a version number and effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
