Calls go straight to voicemail

Usually one of:

• The app isn't connected: see My app won't connect
• The phone has Do Not Disturb on, either in the app or in the phone's own settings
• Call forwarding is on and pointing somewhere unexpected
• The number rings a department where nobody's phone is connected
• On Android, the phone is putting the app to sleep: see Calls don't ring when the app is closed (Android)
